    Early reveal

The RuneFest first glimpse of RS4 is a concept teaser for a new RuneScape MMORPG built in Unreal Engine. It is not a gameplay build. No engine version is named. The film runs a little over a minute, from floating islands to a flaming metal 4. Fifteen frames sit in order from eight seconds to the end card at one minute eighteen.

Sort by time if you want the film's order. Sort by place if you want the land, the city, the street, the town, and the end card gathered into clumps. The captions are what the frames show, not a quest log. Two frames share the forty-six second mark, and two share the fifty-four second mark, so the clock is not a unique key. The order numbers are.

How to watch

Watch the film before you argue from a screenshot. The teaser is one continuous piece, a little over a minute, and the frames are samples from it, not a second edit. Time order follows the film. Place order gathers the opening land, then the city and the rider, then the market street, then the smith and the festival, then the end card. Either way you are looking at concept pictures.

The RuneFest livestream is a different video. That recording is the stage show, with the room, the host, and the weekend around the film. The teaser does not include the crowd or the host. It is the film made for the reveal. Headphones help on the street stretch, where the pictures change every second and the only labels are what you can see: hats, pennants, stalls, and snow.

If a still and the film disagree about order, trust the film. The samples are taken from it, and the order numbers follow its clock. Eight seconds is the islands. One minute eighteen is the flaming 4. Everything else sits between those two marks.

Land and dragons

The land group is the first three samples. Islands over a lake, a castle town, snow. Then a green dragon over the valley. Then a wider cut of that valley with the dragon still in it. This geography is Ashenfall, north-east of Gielinor, and the town is not labelled. The dragons that follow are not all the same animal.

At twenty-two seconds, three dragons, green, red, and blue-grey, pass a walled city. At half a minute, a hooded rider sits on a large green dragon with a red eye. The rider is not under attack from a named three-headed dragon. The creature has no name, and these frames show separate bodies. Keep the city pass and the rider as two shots.

Separate bodies in separate shots are what the film gives you. A fused three-headed boss would be a story the frames do not carry. The green dragon over the valley, the trio over the wall, and the rider's mount can stay three pictures until a later telling joins or names them.

The town street

The street group starts with a close view of a wizard in a blue hat and spectacles, then pulls back to a street lined with pennants. Someone in yellow robes, with a staff topped by a star, greets a backpacker whose hat is blue. An armor stall sits in the market. Three adventurers stand together. The times bunch up: two of these are both marked around forty-six seconds, because the film cuts quickly.

Nothing in the street has a shop name or a character name. The blue hat, the star-headed staff, the pennants, and the armor stall are visual facts. They suggest a lived-in town in the concept, which matches a film that wants to show people rather than a combat dummy. They do not establish a skill called Magic, a faction, or a quest giver. Together, the five frames are one street instead of five unrelated postcards.

Pennants, a star-topped staff, and an armor stall are enough to show a market, and they are not enough to name the shops or the people. The backpacker's hat is blue, the greeting wizard's robes are yellow, and the third group is simply three adventurers. No one in that street has been introduced by name.

Festival end card

The town group moves from work to celebration. A blacksmith in an apron is at an anvil, around fifty seconds. A wider shot keeps the smith while a figure in a glowing orange cape walks away, floating islands behind them. A high view opens the town square. Then a festival: a red-and-white tent, blue star banners, wall towers, and snow mountains. The square and the cape share a fifty-four second mark. The festival is a few seconds later, at one minute two.

The last frame leaves the town entirely. At one minute eighteen the film ends on a flaming metal 4. That card is the working title turned into metal and fire. It is not a location in Ashenfall, so it stands apart from the land, the city, and the town. It is the signature of the reveal. If you only remember one image from a mute scroll, remember that numeral, with the festival as the last place the camera stood.

The festival still has no place name. The tent, the star banners, the wall towers, and the snow are the description. The orange cape is a costume in the square, not a faction badge with a title. Work, then a celebration, then the numeral: that is the last third of the film.

Not a gameplay build

Keep the film's own frame when the pictures feel playable. This is a first glimpse and a concept teaser. It is built in Unreal Engine. It is not a gameplay build. You cannot walk the street, talk to the wizard, or swing at the anvil. There is no interface to read, which is why combat and skills stay unanswered even after you have watched a smith work.

Use the film as evidence of mood, scale, and setting. Islands, dragons, a market, a festival, a numeral. Then stop. The next public step is not a patch note. Much more is promised next year about the world, the game, the team, and how to get involved. Until that arrives, these fifteen frames are the most precise look a player has. The order is the film's. The names of the people in it are not public.

No engine version sits beside the Unreal Engine credit. No ability bar, hit splat, or stance appears between the islands and the end card. A concept of a town is not a zone you can enter, and a flaming 4 is not a login button.
